Life so far...

Semester is pretty much winding down now...lot of stuff happened over the last couple months...waterpolo season, big birthdays, and just chilling...

Military

Whats an entry about west point without military stuff? Well...i haven't really done anything too much cuz of waterpolo..but the ONE time i attended training...i was tasked to teach first aid...so taught the shit out of how to evaluate an open chest wound o.O

Waterpolo

So our team, with only 2 returning starters had HUGE shoes to fill. I started out this season seriously wondering iif this year we would even place. But with the hardest training I've experienced yet...we had a freaking awesome team. At regionals...we placed second with our final record at 10-2...pretty awesome for a fresh team. Next year, we will have only lost 3 starters..and a pretty deep bench...i'm freaking pumped

Linda

HAHA...i seriously thought this entry was gonna be a long entry that summed up my life at westpoint...but i realize that my life at west point this semester was pretty much either studying (which i don't have any pics of), waterpolo, and linda...so this is the last section

Anyways...this semester i feel like we've grown so much closer...sure we've had our rough moments =D but i continue to grow so much through you, and its been freaking amazing...i want you to know linda that you've made west point so much more fun...i sometimes actually wake up with a smile now! haha...

I think this was wacky tacky night? I remember you wearing your GPB proudly on your shirt haha

CIMG0860

On the weekends when everyone left....we usually just chilled here...mainly cuz i am a cow and have very few pass opportunities...and second...well there really is no reason to leave when your significant other goes to your same school =D

Anyways...the one time we drove around and stopped by the ice cream shop...haha good times...it was pretty chilly outside so we decided to eat the ice cream in the car and take funny photos...this one was supposed to be me just kissing her cheek...but she was too busy eating -_-

IMG_0072

Recently...Linda gave me a haircut cuz my baber cancelled...turned out better than expected...(me thanking the barber...thats how i thank all my barbers ;)

IMG_0194

congrats on turning 21 babe...finally =D....hope the rest of the year with you is as awesome as it has been. love you

Reflection

So i am finally back in my room...and decided to relive the past 3 weeks...

My  training here was spent being the XO (executive officer) of a company consisting of 200 privates and 15 drill sergeants. My job? Wake up every morning around 3:50 to drive to work (they actually gave me a freaking 4X4 truck to drive around while im here!) and get to the morning breifing and PT. We have to start physical training early before it gets too humid and hot. The day consists of military training. We have done confidence obstacle courses, gas chamber (i went through again...), physical tests, land nav, first aid, rappelling (haha i was the demonstrator cuz i was air assault qualified! YEA!), and a night out on the field.

I have to admit that the first week...i stayed very quiet...just trying to absorb as much as i can...and try to to learn by just observing. As it turns out they wanted me to be more active and they pretty much kicked out the old XO (who was only and XO for about a week before i came) and told me to take over. I had to go through what every privates went through...but when they get breaks...i am running around making sure everything is coordinated. I am in charge of making sure that each private and drill sergeants gets 3 meals a day...and transportation to and from training. As i started to figure out this XO job...my confidence in my own leadership abilities seemed to show because they not only gave me a XO job...but the drill sergeants ( who are VERY exclusive) took me under their wings. They told me the things i had to do as a butter bar (still seems far away) and made sure i would be qualified by testing me. I was the only cadet here asked to lead PT for a whole day...and I chose the fastest the group to lead. HAHA SHIT I thought i was fit but these fools were pretty quick too...And now with a whole week of rifle training with LIVE ammo...even the company commander has enough confidence in my ability to leave such a range in my control!

I am very happy to say that FT Benning sucks. The past week its been a blazing 110 degrees...The past 3 days 6 privates were medevac due to heat casualty...and I actually initiated an IV on one o.O.... But you know what? I am doing very well. I learned to not stop with every hardship. I don't know if many people know this...but I lost my credit card as soon as i got here and had $20. With this $20 i had to last almost 4 weeks. I seriously didn't know where my next meal was gonna come...but somehow...God truly blessed me and now...even with no money and not knowing where my next meal would come from...i have NO doubt that I will be ok

When a private who has completely broken down comes to you....it is truly a wonderful feeling when you  know that you build him up...even stronger than he was before. I have about 5 days left here...and today, every drill sergeant at the range came up to me and shook my hand and told me i would be a great leader. Even the 1st Sergeant came up to me and told me I was doing a great job. The Battalion Commander hates cadets....and he checked up on my range today and left telling me to keep it up....the Brigade Commander showed up last week and clapped me on the back telling me that i was outdoing his every expectation. But even more than these compliments...the things that kept me going was seeing how much i have grown. Two years at west point really made a difference......

pics to come (i think my photography skills actually improved while taking photos for the company=D)

remember...I TOOK THESE photos...pretty freaking professional i think... haha
